We do not give credit repair companies a star rating. A score cannot tell you what a company charges, what it actually does for you, or how it treats the people who complain about it. So this page shows those details instead.
ReliefGuardian may receive compensation if you use certain links on this page. Compensation does not determine our findings or conclusions. We research and publish our findings first. Whether an affiliate relationship exists is decided separately, afterward.
Company Overview
Credit Versio is different from most companies on this page: it's not a full-service credit repair company that disputes items for you. It's software, launched around 2020, that helps you dispute items yourself, faster and with less guesswork than starting from a blank page.
It's bundled with SmartCredit or IdentityIQ credit monitoring products, meaning you're not buying Credit Versio as a standalone product. You're buying into one of those monitoring platforms, which includes Credit Versio's dispute tools.
How It Works
Credit Versio pulls your credit report through your SmartCredit or IdentityIQ account and helps you identify items that might be worth disputing. From there, it generates dispute letters for you, but you're the one printing, signing, and mailing them, or handling that process yourself through the platform's tools. This is meaningfully different from a full-service company: you're doing the active work here, with software support, rather than handing the process to someone else.
Services and Plans
Pricing depends on which monitoring product you bundle it with:
Basic — the entry tier, includes two monthly credit report and score pulls plus two monthly "action buttons," which function as dispute allowances.
Premium — includes everything in Basic, plus unlimited credit score pulls and unlimited action buttons.
If you already hold a qualifying SmartCredit Basic or Premium account, Credit Versio's tools come at no extra cost. If you're on IdentityIQ, you may need to upgrade to their Max tier to access it.
Pricing and True Cost
| Plan | Monthly Fee | Setup Fee | First Month | 6 Months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SmartCredit Basic (bundled) | $27.95 | None, $1 for a 7-day trial | $1 trial, then $27.95 | ~$140 |
| SmartCredit Premium (bundled) | $29.95 | None, $1 for a 7-day trial | $1 trial, then $29.95 | ~$150 |
A few things worth knowing about the pricing here specifically:
- There's no separate "Credit Versio fee." You're paying for the monitoring subscription it's bundled into, so the actual price you pay depends on which monitoring platform and tier you choose.
- There's no money-back guarantee. That's a meaningful difference from the full-service companies on this list, several of which offer a 90-day guarantee.
- Because you're doing the dispute work yourself, with software support, this generally costs less than a full-service company, even at the higher end of its pricing range.
Credit Reports and Monitoring
This is really where Credit Versio's value sits: your SmartCredit or IdentityIQ subscription includes ongoing credit monitoring and score tracking, layered with the dispute-letter tools Credit Versio provides on top.
Dispute Process
You direct the process here. Credit Versio's software helps identify negative items and drafts dispute letters, but you decide what to dispute, and in most setups, you're responsible for actually printing and mailing the letters yourself. If you want a fully hands-off experience, this isn't that. If you want more control and a lower price than a full-service company, this fits that goal well.
Compliance and Transparency
As of our research, Credit Versio doesn't have a Better Business Bureau profile. That's not evidence of anything wrong on its own, plenty of legitimate, newer companies haven't gone through BBB registration, but it does mean one of the standard trust signals we'd normally point you toward simply isn't available for this company. We found no FTC, CFPB, or state enforcement action against Credit Versio.
Reputation
Trustpilot shows Credit Versio in the 4.1 to 4.6 range depending on when it's checked, across roughly 300 to 500 reviews. Recurring complaint themes: data pulled into the platform sometimes described as outdated, and several reviewers reporting they were billed for one or two extra cycles after canceling.
Common Complaints
Beyond the billing-after-cancellation pattern noted above, the most common complaint is a fair one worth stating plainly: some customers pointed out they could have disputed the same items themselves for free, without paying for the software. That's true of any DIY tool, credit repair or otherwise. The value Credit Versio offers is convenience and organization, not access to something you couldn't otherwise do.
Cancellation and Refunds
Cancellation policies follow whichever underlying monitoring platform (SmartCredit or IdentityIQ) you're subscribed through, not a separate Credit Versio policy. Given the billing-after-cancellation complaints noted above, confirm your cancellation in writing and check your next billing statement.
Strengths and Trade-Offs
Where it holds up: Meaningfully lower cost than full-service companies. You keep more control over the process. Bundled monitoring means you're not paying for two separate subscriptions if you already use SmartCredit or IdentityIQ.
Where to go in with eyes open: No BBB profile to check. No money-back guarantee. You're doing the active work of printing and mailing letters yourself in most setups, which is a real time cost even with software helping. And billing-after-cancellation complaints are common enough to plan around.
Who Might Consider This
Credit Versio could be a good fit if you want to actively manage your own dispute process rather than hand it off, you're comfortable with printing and mailing your own letters, and a lower price matters more to you than a fully hands-off experience or a money-back guarantee.
Who Probably Doesn't Need This
You may not need Credit Versio, or any paid tool, if:
- You're comfortable writing dispute letters entirely on your own, without software assistance. You have that right for free, and our guide on disputing credit report errors yourself walks through the process.
- You want a fully hands-off experience where someone else handles everything. A full-service company like Credit Saint or Sky Blue Credit fits that better.
- The items on your credit report are accurate, just unflattering. No tool, free or paid, can legally get those removed.
Alternatives
- Dispute Beast, another DIY-oriented tool, useful to compare directly against Credit Versio if you want software assistance without committing to a full-service company.
- A full-service company like Credit Saint or Sky Blue Credit, if hands-off convenience matters more to you than cost or control.
- Free DIY disputes with no software at all. See our guide to what credit repair actually is to help you decide which approach fits.
Our Research Methodology
ReliefGuardian's credit repair coverage is a research effort, not a ranking. We don't score companies against each other on a single scale, and we don't publish a "best of" list in this category. Instead, we research each company against the same published checklist, pricing, true cost, compliance history, dispute methodology, reputation across multiple platforms, cancellation and refund terms, and tell you plainly what we found.
Every company is evaluated using the same methodology, whether or not ReliefGuardian has an affiliate relationship with them. That relationship, where one exists, is disclosed at the top of this page and never factors into our findings.
Information on this page reflects our research as of the "Last Verified" date above. Pricing, availability, and company policies change. Whenever possible, we link directly to the original source, including the company's own site, so you can confirm current details yourself.
Your rights under federal law (CROA)
Every company that charges money to improve your credit has to follow a federal law called the Credit Repair Organizations Act. It was written because so many of these companies took money up front and never did the work. Here is what the law gives you, no matter which company you are looking at.
- No payment before the work is done. A company cannot charge you until it has actually delivered the service it promised. If someone asks for a fee before anything has happened, that is against the law.
- A written contract before you start. You must get a written agreement that lists what the company will do, what it costs in total, and how long it expects to take.
- A written statement of your rights. The company has to hand you a separate disclosure explaining that you can fix your own credit for free and that you have the right to dispute items yourself.
- Three days to change your mind. You can cancel the contract within three business days of signing, for any reason, and owe nothing.
- No false promises. No one can promise a specific score increase, promise to remove accurate information, or tell you to make a new identity or use a different taxpayer number. Those are all illegal.
- You can sue. If a company breaks these rules, the contract can be void and you can take the company to court to get your money back.
Accurate negative information cannot be removed by anyone. It falls off on its own schedule. You can also dispute errors yourself, for free, directly with each credit bureau. If a company breaks the rules above, you can report it to the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
